Bells On Temple Square Concert To Ring In The Holiday Season

The bells in the bell choir apple Temple was formed in 2005 under the leadership of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and is an official music organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The ethereal sound of cheerful bells and chimes usher in the holiday season at the popular annual Bells on Temple Square concert on Friday and Saturday, November 15-16 at 7:30 pm in the Salt Lake Tabernacle.
In a program titled “Holiday Reflections," this year the Bells on Temple Square will perform a series of familiar hymns, classical arrangements and Christmas songs. Included in the varied repertoire of bells is " A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" , " Come, ye sons of God," and " Finland " ( known by many as the music for the hymn " Be Still , My Soul" ) as well as holiday favorites as " Ding, Dong, Merrily on High ," " O Come , O Come , Emmanuel " and " God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" .

Leanna Wilmore, conductor of the Bells on Temple Square, will hold two performances with Larry Smith, associate director, leading the group of several numbers. Wilmore taught choir in the Utah area for 40 years and has served in many leadership positions in state and national music educators association .

“It is unimaginable how these beautiful and complex sounds can be made with 35 ringers playing talent 192 180 bells and chimes different sizes and tones, unless you see and hear, " Wilmore said.”It will certainly provide a wonderful evening of entertainment. "
